Identity, Inc. provides education, consultation, referral, and support for children, youth and adults who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, genderqueer, intersex, and/or queer, or who are in the process of questioning their gender identity and/or sexual orientation.

The Center is a safe place for LGBT individuals and their friends to participate in a social/educational support group, meet with staff, or use the resource library.

Trans/Gender Non-Conforming Specific

Translution

A social/education support group for teens age 13-19 who identify as transgender, genderqueer/fluid or are questioning their gender. This group meets weekly and allows youth exploring their Gender Identity and/or expression a safe and support place to be themselves with other youth going through similar experiences.

When: Every 2nd Wednesday of the Month. Please see the calendar on our website for specifics.

Q-Club Mat-Su Valley

A weekly social/educational group facilitated by Identity. The meetings are open to all LGBTQ teens and allies ages 13-19 in the Mat-Su Valley. Most meetings we aim to provide education around a subject relevant to the lives of LGBTQ youth. We cover topics from applying for college or jobs to LGBTQ specific sexual health education. Other times we provide a comfortable space for LGBTQ youth to play games and hangout. This group works to ensure LGBTQ teens have the opportunity to access necessary resources to live happier and more productive lives. Come join us for fun, food, and friendship!

Support Groups for Adults

TransParent

A social/educational support group for parents, family members or guardians of transgender/genderqueer youth. As many of us know when someone comes out in our lives their entire community comes out with them. This groups aims to provide social and educational support to any adults who have a young person who recently came out or is actively exploring their Gender Identity. There are also opportunities to get involved in working with other parents and school officials in better understand the needs of parents and guardians with Trans youth in their lives.

Anchorage Transgender Community

A social/educational support group for transgender/genderqueer adults ages 18+. This group provides social and educational support to adults and their family and friends.

Youth

Y.A.S!

Youth Arts Showcase, is an LGBTQ+ Youth Variety show. The purpose of the show is to highlight youth expression, talents, and creativity in a more professional atmosphere during the week of Pride Fest here in Anchorage. Singers, dancers, poets, drag performers, etc. will come together in celebration of diversity and identity in the performance arts.

Winter Youth Leadership Retreat

The purpose of the Winter Youth Leadership Retreat is to create a community of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and Two-Spirit (LGBTQ2+) youth and their allies statewide.

The Retreat includes workshops and trainings to educate youth on healthy life skills and relationships, develop leadership skills, and empower youth to be change agents in their communities.

The Youth Leadership Retreat is a one day event and FREE for high school students, or those enrolled in an educational program, ages 13-18.

The Retreat takes place all day and into the evening.

This event is chaperoned by qualified volunteers with background checks. Students will not be left unattended for any reason. Students will be required to complete a short pre- and post-summit survey regarding their experience so that Identity can track student growth and log statistical information.

Alaska Youth Leadership Summit

The purpose of the Alaska Youth Leadership Summit is to create a community of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer + (LGBTQ) youth and their allies. The Summit includes workshops and trainings to educate youth on healthy life skills and relationships, develop leadership skills, and empower youth to be change agents in their communities.

Pride Prom

Pride Prom is the largest LGBTQ oriented and inclusive prom in the state of Alaska. Pride Prom has been around since 2000 and is held annually in Anchorage.

Pride Prom is a free event open to any students age 14-19 and currently enrolled in an accredited High School program. The goal of Pride Prom is to create a fun and safe space for all young people regardless of their identity to enjoy one of the biggest social events of High School.
